The Northwest Region wrapped up its fall bowling season with three competitions over the last two weeks. The first competition was held at Majestic Lanes in Lynnwood on October 24th and the final two were this past weekend in Ferndale (October 30th, Baker Lanes) and Bellingham (October 31st, Park Bowl).Eighteen local programs with a total of 625 athletes from all over the NW Region competed for medals and ribbons in 7 different events.
Congratulations to all the athletes of the fall season - you are all amazing!
Volunteer Support
The volunteer turn-out was a massive success for all three competitions. At Majestic Lanes in Lynnwood, there were over 5o students from Archbishop Murphy High School alone! And it wasn't just about the number of students - they came to help - not just show up - they worked hard! A special thanks to Carl Schultheis , Whidbey Navy, for making the trip and leading the effort!
Then on Saturday the 30th, Baker Lanes, we had another great turn-out of student volunteers, this time from Blaine H.S. With Steve Barthlow's (N. Whatcom Coach) leadership and recruitment, they pretty much ran the lanes and made it possible to hold a successful event. A special thanks to Karen Smith (N. Whatcom coach) for managing all the lanes and doing it with a smile!
At the final of the three competitions, Park Bowl in Bellingham, we found ourselves supported by the Nav
Also at this competition were student volunteers from WWU, and again, four dedicated students from Archbishop Murphy High School in Mill Creek.
Another SPECIAL THANKS to Carl Schultheis for recruiting Navy personel, coordinating / training volunteers and running the awards crew - you were awesome Carl!
Thanks to everyone who supported the movement of Special Olympics over the last two weeks!
